EXCURSIONS
During the course of their stay, students will be accompanied by a bilingual tutor on trips out to local places of interest (historical towns, sites of outstanding natural beauty, local food and craft markets, etc.), during which they will be given ample opportunity to utilise the Italian they have learnt so far. Northern Umbria, unlike other more famous parts of Italy, is not overrun with foreign tourists and so there is far more chance of you having to speak Italian with local market traders, people in shops or in the village bar, who are generally easygoing enough to take that little extra time listening to what our students have to say. Indeed, one of the great advantages of learning Italian in a rural location rather than in one of the country’s more touristy large towns is that people DO have time to listen to, and chat with, visitors.
Depending on the time of year, students will also have the opportunity to attend a local event or two – these range from traditional historical pageants to village barn dances, and invariably feature an abundance of local foods and wines, music and friendly people!
